Song in My Head

There’s a nail in my coffin

There’s a sign in my yard

About a hater who will profit

From the fear in my heart

There are clothes on the floor

And a lady in my bed

There're flowers on the table

There’s a song in my head

There’s a song in my head

And there’s a gun in the car

And a couple empty seats

at the end of the bar

There’s the shakes in the morning

And that existential dread

There’s a bible on the table

There’s a song in my head

A conspiracy's a’ brewing

There’s a bully in the pulpit

There’s an ancient house of ruins

And we all know the culprit

There’s a force to be reckoned

With a child to be fed

Oh and nothing’s off the table

There’s a song in my head

There’s a trip to be taken

There’s a soul to be found

With a new revelation:

Take another lap around

There’s a fire in the streets

And a couple women dead

Got a sheriff asking questions

'Bout a song in my head

There’s an answer in the wind

A fleeting sense of time

There’s a lie in every story

And a truth in every lie

With no easy answers

There’s a public being led

Against a broken-hearted family

With a song in their head
